HISTORY OF TAMIL METHODIST CHURCH KUCHING
This ministry was started in the late 80’s as a cell group and met regularly in Sis Pauline’s and sis Rhema’s house. Meetings were held on Fridays’ and weekends. The first meeting was held in Sis.Rhema’s house and the next in Sis. Pauline’s house.

Ps Daniel, an independent Pastor from West Malaysia was involve in Preaching, Teaching and Prayer. Sis Rhema and her sisters were also helping in the teaching and praying ministry.

This ministry was then continued by Mr.Tharmaraj who was on work transfer from West Malaysia to kuching. He was working with the Health Department. The others who helped in this ministry was Bro.Jay Prakash. He is a lecturer from UNIMAS. The UNIMAS students also participated in this ministry. These students also meet for fellowship in one of the SIB church. About 10 students attend regularly. Mr.Tharmaraj was later transferred back to KL in 2014.The ministry became vacant.
This ministry was then continued by Mr.Tharmaraj who was on work transfer from West Malaysia to kuching. He was working with the Health Department. The others who helped in this ministry was Bro.Jay Prakash. He is a lecturer from UNIMAS. The UNIMAS students also participated in this ministry. A meeting was held by these people with the TAC President to have a permanent person to take in charge of the Tamil Ministry. A seminary student PS Roland was for a 2 months ministry. On 25th February 2015,Sis Rhema and her sister Bonis with Ps Roland arranged for a permanent place of worship with the Rev Pau from Faith Methodist Church, Kuching. About 9-14 believers attend the service.

After Ps Roland left for seminary study in April, the ministry left vacant again. There were pastors from TAC visiting this ministry on an irregular basis. It was at this crucial moment that Mr.R.Steven and his wife came forward to assist this ministry.

They started their first mission from 12th – 13th July 2015.The first meeting had an attendance of 15 for cell group and 3 for worship service. The worship service was changed from Saturday to Fridays and cell group from Friday’s to Saturday’s. From there on regular meetings were held very fortnight. He come every 2nd and 4th week. Many Hindu families were visited and also held cell group on Thursdays. We had our 1st overnight prayer on 9th Oct 2015. About 20 attended. Out of the 20, 10 are unbelievers. TMC Ipoh sent 6 prayer Team members to this overnight prayer

Finally, the time has come to have a van for the Tamil Ministry. In 2016 the TAC EXCO with the recommendation from the Board of Evangelism decided to buy a van. The Faith Methodist Church donated RM 20,000.00 and by God’s Grace a van was purchased on 6th Oct 2016. This indeed is historical.

After an year of ministry, The Bishop of Methodist Church Rev.Ong Wai Teik made a call to Mr.R.Steven at the TAC Annual Conference in November 2017 to go full time in Kuching. A double storey detached house was rented for RM 1,400.00.

Church school was held simultaneously upstairs. On 9th February we held our 1st Sunday service and 14th Ash Wednesday service. Tamil class was started on 19th February. The first class had the enrollment of 17 students. The oldest person was 55 yrs old.

For the first time two youths,Ms Bhanupriya Anak Peter and Ms Parameshwari Anak alien were sent to the youth camp in Port Dickson from 14 – 17th June 2018.

Two ladies,Mdn Allagambal Savarimuthu and Mdm Manomaney Rajamanikam were sent to women’s conference in Methodist center Port Dickson from 27th Sept – 1st Oct 2018

Churching and Child baptism was held on 1st July 2018. Mrs Jayanthi Michael was brought for churching and their two sons, Moses a/l Michael age 3 yrs old and Aaron Arun a/l Michael age 3 weeks was baptized. Both these events were done by Rev Vinsant Rayar- Pastor of TMC Klang.

On 15th July the first Adult baptism was held at Faith Methodist Church Kuching. Two adults namely Magassary Anak Alien and Bhanupriya Anak Peter were baptized by Rev Pau Kiew Chung. Bhuvaneshwari was given a child baptism by Rev Pau Kiew Chung. Rev DB Laurence ( Registrar - Tamil Annual Conference ) assisted in the both the baptism. It was witnessed by a visiting Team from TMC Subang , some local believers and non-believers.
